Denver Pavilions Adds First Colorado Flagship H&M Store to Retail Line-Up
Denver, Colorado — April 13, 2011
Denver Pavilions is pleased to announce that the downtown shopping center will add one of today's hottest international retail brands, H&M. H&M will open its first store in Colorado at the Denver Pavilions located in the heart of downtown Denver on the 16th Street Mall. The highly anticipated store is scheduled to open in late 2011.
The new store will be one of H&M's full concept stores offering fashionable clothing for men, women, teens and children, as well as lingerie, denim, and accessories. H&M's collections are created centrally by 100 in-house designers together with buyers and pattern makers. H&M refreshes its stores daily with new fashion items and has approximately 2,200 stores around the world.
"For years, Coloradoans have made requests for the retail fashion leader H&M to open a store in Colorado," said Mark Sidell, President of Gart Properties, owner of Denver Pavilions. "Our iconic building provides the high profile location H&M required. H&M will be an incredible addition to our already strong line-up of retailers and we look forward to welcoming them to the Denver market."
The downtown location was consciously selected by H&M due to the exposure the store will receive from the 15 million people on the 16th Street Mall and the 12 million overnight visitors annually. H&M strives to build their stores in the most premier real estate location, whether in the heart of a big city or a shopping center. This has been a firm principle of H&M since the first store opened and Denver Pavilions fits these criteria.
"As we strive for a strong economic recovery in Denver, we welcome the arrival of H&M and I am glad we were all able to come together to make it happen," said Mayor Guillermo (Bill) V. Vidal. "The store's growing popularity is sure to add new vitality to the 16th Street Mall, attracting shoppers from across the state and region. Denver is excited to be a part of this company's expanding U.S. presence and we wish them great success in the Mile High City."
In addition to becoming a new anchor at Denver Pavilions, the opening of H&M is expected to positively impact downtown's economy with new jobs and increased tax revenue.
"Securing H&M is a huge win for Downtown Denver," stated Tamara Door, President & CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership. "The first H&M in Colorado will naturally become a destination store, increasing the number of visitors to downtown, and serving as a catalyst for exciting new retail to open in the area. It is a wonderful foreshadowing of what is to come."
